Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege was released in 2015 and has been hit or miss, but recently it has been receiving more traction and may be better than we all thought.
When you first start Rainbow Six Siege, the game is almost fully unlocked. You can play a quick match, learning area, situations, unranked, and ranked. The only way to unlock Ranked is to reach level 50, and by then you should be decent enough to compete against a five-person group. Either by yourself with random teammates or with your group.
Ranked and unranked are pretty much the same since they both have the same content but just like it sounds in unranked you play a ranked-styled match but don’t get ranked. In ranked you play a very stressful and sweaty match against people who are suspected to be at the same skill level as you and your teammates and depending on the number of eliminations and deaths you have, you’ll get a rank and have to fight to keep it. Quick play is a pretty laid-back and chill game mode since there’s no rank, KD, or Win Loss ratio involved. Learning areas and situations are pretty much the same, you play against a bunch of Ai to complete side missions for renown (in-game currency) and to build up your level.
On release day back in 2015 there were eight original operators, now almost eight years after Rainbow Six has been released there are over 60 operators to play, with about half of the operators on defense and the other half on attacking. Each operator has their unique ability, most of the abilities on attacking are hard wall breachers and supports like health, riot shields, and recon. The majority of abilities on defense are information, traps, and reinforcement operators. With over 60 operators which ones are the best?
I think the two best operators for attacking are Zofia and Kali, there might be a slight bias since they are my mains on attacking but there are some pretty good reasons. Zofia has a very powerful 150-round Light Machine Gun and a heavy-hitting assault rifle. Her weapons aren’t the only thing that puts her at the top of my list, with the teammates I usually play with we all have our few assigned operators so my team is set up so all I need to do is breach soft walls and stun the enemy when I need, which is exactly what her ability does. Zofia’s ability is a launcher that can shoot breaching rounds to destroy soft walls and you can switch it to the stun rounds to distract the enemy.
Kali is at the top of my list because she has an insane sniper that either fully eliminates the enemy, or instantly knocks them forcing them to crawl away or bleed out on the spot. She also has a good secondary weapon for those chances where you might miss your shot. Because she has a bolt action rifle if you miss you might as well just whip out your secondary weapon since it is more than likely that the enemy will try to push out and eliminate you. Her ability is not only having a very powerful weapon but she has an attachment that shoots some sort of bullet that can disable electric and mute jammers on hard and soft walls. Kali is also really fast which helps when you have a single-shot weapon as your primary.
My top two best operators on defense are Thorn and Solis, Thorn is my go-to main because of her playability. She is a good roaming operator since she is a two-speed two-armor so she is pretty quick. Thorn also has a really good weapon, the UZK50GI. It has a unique sound and also packs a punch, although it hits hard it surprisingly doesn’t have that much recoil. Her ability is the Razorbloom, it is a placable trap that deals lethal damage to anyone within its radius. The only downside to this ability is the time it takes for the Razorbloom to go off, it makes a noticeable sound and has three or four seconds before it goes off after being activated by the enemy. So by the time it goes off, the enemy is usually nowhere to be found.
Solis is my second go-to operator on defense, she is a two-speed two armor so she is just as quick as Thorn and she is a lot quieter than most other operators. She has a P90 SMG that is easy to control both vertically and horizontally. She also has the SMG-11 as her secondary, which for certain people it’s easy to control, otherwise, it has a lot of vertical and horizontal recoil. Solis is a three difficulty because of her ability which is why I think everyone turns away from her. She has glasses that can scan enemy utilities and reveal their operator and their location on the map. So she is pretty much like Pulse but only for operators using their abilities. Her ability is one of the best ones in my opinion on defense and using it has gotten me the win on many occasions.
Overall, Rainbow Six Siege is a very enjoyable game with a lot of entertaining features and game modes. Since it is free to play you and your friends can start the grind to diamond one.
