2025 Girls Tennis Season Begins

On March 31, the first official practice of the girl tennis team occurred. With new coaches starting this season, the team seems to be expecting a great season.
For Junior Tushita Mullick, it is her third season of girls tennis and also her third year being on the varsity team. She stated how she is “very excited about the season” and hopes that she and her doubles partner make it to individual state.
Junior Bryn Mineck similarly showed high expectations and excitement for the season. “I’m super excited for this season! We have a new coaching staff which will be really interesting to get a new perspective on the game and new strategies to use.” She stated that her goal for this season is to have as much fun as possible. “In the past, I’ve gotten really worked up about winning but this year I’m more focused on having a good time and improving my game regardless of the score.”
For Junior Mia Castro, this will be her first year playing with the Waukee girl’s tennis team. “I feel excited starting this new season, but I am also nervous about challenge matches.” She stated, “My goals for this season are to play the best I can in practice and in matches. I hope to win matches.”
The girl’s tennis team will have their first matches at Johnston Invitational this Friday, April 11th. Their first meet will be against Johnston on the 15th.
